What a crazy month! I'm struggling to process it all so this is going to be super brief until I can break it all down into words.
First off, at the beginning of July I went to the Big Sleuth VIP Preview Event and just... wow! The standard of the work on this year's trail is absolutely stunning and I feel so proud and privileged to be a part of it.
You can download the app for your mobile now by searching 'Big Sleuth' on the app store and get involved in hunting all the bears. All profits go to the Birmingham Children's Hospital, so it's such a worthwhile cause!
My bear is going to be on display for the next 12 weeks in the centre of Arcadian in the Birmingham Gay/Chinese quarter (i.e. Southside, who funnily enough sponsored me, so thanks Southside!) so please do go and check it out. Don't try to climb him though, he's a delicate bugger and he's already been taken to the vets once due to people climbing and grabbing his ears.
Flamingos and the Gay Quarter though... I don't know why I didn't see that coming. I love it!
(Thanks to my auntie Kaz for the photos of him in situ!)
Next up in my crazy few weeks - the D&AD New Blood Awards Ceremony followed by a two week creative bootcamp at D&AD HQ as part of their New Blood Academy!
What can i say?!?! WOW! It's been the most challenging two weeks of my life. It's made me re-evaluate everything I thought I knew about design. It also taught me that I really bloody hate group work. Haha! Not all the time of course, but on this occasion, we've agreed to remain friends but never, EVER work with each other again.
Advertising is a scary and exciting new world, and it's safe to say I have the bug; that's why I'm so excited to say I've just accepted a D&AD Scholarship to go and study at the London School of Communications 2.0, to learn everything 'art direction'. EEEK! I'm so terrified and excited in equal measure.
I can't wait to see what the next few months have in store. I'm still struggling to process how much has happened in such a short space of time, but I sure am enjoying the ride and I'm hoping it carries on for a little while longer.
Until next time. x
